Adoption Workshop this weekend

I've been meaning to write this post (or a more in depth version of it) for some time now (let's face it, I am pretty back logged on blog posts right now, my apologies!) but we would really value your prayers this weekend (and in the upcoming months too) so I wanted to write a quick post for now with a promise for more to come ("someday").

Steve and I have talked about adoption since before Caleb was born. Then Caleb came along and threw off our plans a bit ;-)  As we have settled into life with him, we have started the conversation back up again.  In all honesty, I have a bit more reservations this time and I'm a bit more unsure than Steve.  But we are talking and praying and this weekend we are taking action.  We are going to our first conference!

Hope for Orphans is coming to Korea and we will travel up to Seoul tomorrow for an all day workshop, aimed specifically at expats wanting to adopt while abroad.  We are going mostly to test the waters, get information and begin to take steps towards this as a possibility in our future.  It is exciting and it is also scary.  I have several heart obstacles to work through and pray through.  But we would really value your prayers as we take these initial steps and as we continue to talk and pray and talk and pray.  I am not sure where the Lord will lead with this or what will come of it but we are placing it in His hands and asking Him to lead, as we try to live life with open hands and hearts.

Please pray that the Lord would direct our steps.  Please pray that He would make it clear to us if this is the right timing or if we should wait.  Please pray that He would guide our decisions and that we would have open hearts that are willing to trust Him, even in hard things.  Please pray that we would have a heart for children without parents and God's love for His children.

Thank you -- we appreciate it more than you know.

P.S. If you have experience with adoption, we would love to hear from you!  Or if you have time to answer questions....we have a lot! =)  shouser08@yahoo.com

  1. So how do you feel now that you've heard everything that weekend?
