memories

One of my favorite things to do is look back through our dated picture folders from last year "at this time" and compare Caleb then and Caleb now.  It goes without saying, but just for good measure - They change and grow up so fast!  I know, all you veteran parents are chuckling because my son is only 19 months and I feel like he is "so grown up" but hey, that's the phase we're in.

Last year, this time we were packing up our sweet first apartment, preparing to head into the unknown of Korea and wondering if we were crazy.  Steve had just put in his 2 week notice, ending the end of September.  We had put in our notice at the apartment and were trying to be out by the beginning of October.  I had put in my notice at work but was dragging my feet, trying to make the last weeks s-t-r-e-t-c-h. I worked several more weeks, ending the end of October. I still miss that place - if any of you former co-workers are still reading this lil old blog, I MISS YOU.  Email me.

Caleb was 7 months old, he had mastered the art of crawling several months past (crazy boy, I know), he was climbing in and out of boxes, his favorite words were "bye bye" "mama" and "dada", he was teething constantly, refusing to have anything to do with solid food and the same Mr. Socialbug-ball-of-joyful-lovingness that he is now.  Some things haven't change.  I hope they never do.

I was so head-over-heels in love with you little boy. Still am.

Oh yea! And you were saying a lot of "uh-oh"s back then too....your other favorite word.
All that crawling around, climbing and exploring made for lots of those.

September 2010

A lot has changed in a year.

But most days I still think we're half crazy, we are still the same happy family of 3, still have one of the most delighful little boys one could ask for, still feel overly-blessed to be his parents, and still living daily upheld by His grace alone.

  1. awww this is SO fun to look back at! I LOOOOVE the pictures of C and I can totally imagine what he was doing back then.
I was just trying really hard to imagine Iz in 12 months from now and I couldn't do it. I think it's easier to look back with love than to anticipate the future. And then you don't miss the now!
